... overripe bananas

for days i've been watching these bananas in our fruit basket slowly turn brown. of course i could have eaten them, but that would have meant that i couldn't have my most favorite banana bread in all the world, dorrie greenspan's cocoa-nana bread from her baking cookbook. i mean, plain banana bread is fine and dandy, but when you add cocoa and chopped up chocolate chunks, it only gets better.

i always use hershey's special dark cocoa powder. i love how it makes any chocolate thing dark dark dark, and turns my fingers black, requiring much licking of the fingers.

this was all that remained when i finally remembered to take a picture. needless to say, that's gone now, too.
